Abstract
A video coding method, executed by an electronic device, and comprising: when N adjacent blocks of a current block in a current video frame have been coded, and a coding mode of each adjacent block among the N adjacent blocks is different from backward predictive coding, counting a first number of adjacent blocks having undergone forward predictive coding among the N adjacent blocks, wherein N is a positive integer greater than or equal to 2 (S302); when the first number is greater than 0 and forward predictive coding cost of the current block is determined by using a reference frame set and is less than a preset target cost threshold corresponding to the first number, determining coding cost used for backward predictive coding of the current block by using each reference frame in the reference frame set, and determining the minimum coding cost among the determined coding cost used for backward predictive coding as backward predictive coding cost of the current block, wherein the forward predictive coding cost is the minimum coding cost among the coding cost used for forward predictive coding of the current block by using each reference frame in the reference frame set (S304); and on the basis of the size relationship between the forward predictive coding cost and the backward predictive coding cost, determining a coding mode of the current block (S306).
