Abstract

A medical imaging system comprising an imaging device configured to acquire a medical image of a subject and a system for monitoring motion of a subject during medical imaging procedure are provided, as well as a method for monitoring motion of a subject and a computer program product to carry out the method. The medical imaging system comprises a camera configured to acquire image frames of the subject, wherein the image frames are acquired at a camera acquisition frequency. The medical imaging system also comprises a light source configured to illuminate the subject with a modulated frequency, wherein the modulation frequency is synchronized with the camera acquisition frequency. The system further comprises a motion detection unit configured to determine a subject motion by applying a motion detection algorithm to the acquired image frames.
