Abstract

An elevator car (6) comprises a support frame (48) that is provided at the top of the elevator car (6), wherein the support frame (48) comprises at least two longitudinal beams (32a-32d) extending basically parallel to each other in a longitudinal direction (L); and at least two transverse beams (33a-33d) attached to the longitudinal beams (32a-32d) and extending basically parallel to each other in a transverse direction (T) that is oriented transversely, in particular perpendicularly, to the longitudinal direction (L), such that the two of the least two longitudinal beams (32a-32d) and the two of the least two transverse beams (33a-33d) define a working opening (25) having predefined transverse working opening dimensions (x,y) that are independent of the dimensions (A, B) of the elevator car (6), the working opening (25) allowing a mechanic (50) to access at least one component (52) that is located above or on top of the elevator car (6) from inside the elevator car (6).
