Abstract

An air conditioner 1, which is a refrigeration apparatus, includes a compressor 21; an outdoor heat exchanger 22, which is a condenser; an expansion mechanism 23; an indoor heat exchanger 31, which is an evaporator; and a refrigerant circuit 10 configured to circulate a refrigerant and refrigerating machine oil. The expansion mechanism 23 includes an expansion valve including a metal part. The refrigerant contains a hydrocarbon having one to four carbon atoms. The refrigerating machine oil is polyalkylene glycol, and contains an acid scavenger in an amount of 0.1% by weight to 2.0% by weight relative to the refrigerating machine oil. A filling amount of a sulfur-based odor component relative to a filling amount of the refrigerant is 50 ppm by weight to 2,000 ppm by weight.
