Abstract

The invention relates to a method of mapping an environment for an autonomous device, e.g. a cleaning robot, comprising capturing a data set of the environment using a capturing camera device, processing the data set to generate a 3D scene representation of the environment, converting the 3D scene representation into a format usable by an autonomous device, transmitting the converted 3D scene representation as robot data to the autonomous device and using the robot data for localization and/or navigation of the autonomous device.
