Abstract

Systems and methods are described for determining a region of interest within slices of medical volumetric image data, whereby features values of an input slice of the medical volumetric image data are determined based on image data of the input slice and positional information to one or more neighbouring slices relative to the input slice, the determined feature values are applied to a trained machine learning model to generate an output indicative of a predicted region of interest in the, or each, neighbouring slice relative to the input slice. The volumetric medical image data may be automatically annotated based on the output of the trained machine learning model. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.
