Abstract

[Problem] To provide coated particles that, when used as a positive electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, allow the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery in which the particles are used to exhibit excellent charging/discharging capacity and cycle characteristics. The coated particles according to the present disclosure have a lithium metal composite oxide, in the form of a primary particle or a secondary particle, that includes at least lithium and nickel; a first layer including nickel(II) oxide on at least part of a surface of the lithium metal composite oxide; and a second layer including an oxide, containing lithium and one or more selected from the group consisting of boron, phosphorus, and sulfur, on at least part of a surface of the first layer.
