Abstract

A gel formulation is described, in particular a gel formulation that can be used as a "base" formulation for various active ingredients, characterized by a specific qualitative and quantitative combination of monopropylene glycol and high-viscosity carbomer. The gel formulation also contains an acidity neutralizing agent and may contain an opacifier and a colorant and/or fragrance. It is free of alcohol and preservatives and is particularly suitable for the formulation of lipophilic and/or poorly water-soluble active ingredients for topical use.
