Abstract

To suppress the occurrence of blood vessel damage when advancing through a blood vessel. Provided is a guide wire 100 including: an elongated wire body 110; and a lubricious coating layer 120 formed of a material capable of being swollen when wetted and covering at least a part of the wire body 110, in which the wire body 110 includes a core member 10, a tubular member 20 disposed so as to cover an outer periphery of a distal portion of the core member 10, and a holding portion 40 holding a part of an inner peripheral surface between a distal end and a proximal end of the tubular member 20, and the lubricious coating layer 120 includes a bulge portion 121 formed on an outer peripheral surface of the wire body 110 at a position of the holding portion 40 by changing a thickness of the lubricious coating layer 120.
