Abstract

A welding system comprises: a wire feeder configured to advance an electrode at a wire feed speed; power conversion circuitry configured to convert input power to welding power and to output the welding power to create a welding circuit comprising the electrode; and control circuitry configured to: control the power conversion circuitry to output the welding power according to one or more first welding parameters comprising a first waveform width or a first waveform frequency; in response to a wire feed speed change of at least one of a commanded wire feed speed or a measured wire feed speed, determine a second waveform width or a second waveform frequency based on at least one of the commanded wire feed speed and the measured wire feed speed; and control the power conversion circuitry to output the welding power according to one or more second welding parameters comprising the second waveform width.
