Abstract

A robot capable of accurately and promptly detecting a situation where the robot is lifted by an external force or falls to the ground due to a loss of center of gravity is disclosed. According to an embodiment, the robot includes a robot body, a pair of wheel units including wheels that perform rolling travel while in contact with a ground, a pair of leg units connected between the robot body and the wheel units, and a control unit configured to determine an unsafe state and perform safety control. The control unit increases a safety count when a preset condition corresponding to each of a plurality of sensing parameters is satisfied. At a second time point (t2) when the safety count reaches a predetermined value, the control unit determines the unsafe state and performs safety control. A time required from a first time point (t1) to the second time point (t2) varies depending on a type and a number of the sensing parameters for which a counting situation is detected.
