Abstract
Provided is an image recording method including a step of applying a pretreatment liquid containing water and an aggregating agent onto a recording medium and a step of applying an ink containing water and a pigment onto a region of the recording medium, onto which the pretreatment liquid has been applied, by an ink jet method, in which at least the pretreatment liquid contains an additive (A) which is at least one selected from the group consisting of a light stabilizer and an ultraviolet absorber, the total application amount of the additive (A) applied onto the recording medium is 0.05 g/m<sup>2</sup> to 2.00 g/m<sup>2</sup>, and a proportion of an application amount of the additive (A) by the application of the pretreatment liquid to the total application amount of the additive (A) applied onto the recording medium is 50% by mass to 100% by mass.
