Abstract

Systems and methods disclosed herein enable inspections for damage in airship structures based on pressurization tests applied to segmented volumes in the airship structures. An airship structure may include one or more first joints having a plurality of first slots having an open internal interface therebetween such that the plurality of first slots are volumetrically connected internally. The airship structure may include a plurality of second joints having a plurality of second slots having a closed internal interface therebetween such that the plurality of second slots are volumetrically isolated internally. The airship structure may include a plurality of tubes wherein each end of the tubes is inserted into either (a) one of the plurality of first slots of one of the one or more first joints or (b) one of the plurality of second slots of one of the plurality of second joints, wherein at least one slot selected from the first slots or the second slots has a hole.
