Abstract
Provided is a method for producing hydrogen in which ammonia can be decomposed at high efficiency even with low power consumption to produce hydrogen. The method for producing hydrogen of the present invention includes a step in which an ammonia decomposition catalyst including a titanate represented by the following general formula (1) or a titanium oxynitride represented by the following general formula (2) is brought into contact with ammonia under irradiation with microwaves at low output. ATiO<sub>3-x</sub> (1)(In the general formula (1), A represents at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ba and Sr, and x is a value represented by 0.1 ≤ x ≤ 2.0.) ATiO<sub>3-x</sub>N<sub>y</sub> (2)(In the general formula (2), A represents at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ba and Sr, x is a value represented by 0.1 ≤ x ≤ 2.0, and y is a value represented by 0.1 ≤ y ≤ 1.0.)
