Abstract
Provided is an ammonia decomposition catalyst which exhibits high ammonia decomposition activity even at a low reaction temperature and a low reaction pressure, and which has stable catalytic properties such that it can be repeatedly used in reactions even after being exposed to air or water. A barium nitride of the present invention is represented by the following general formula (1): BaAN<sub>2-x</sub> (1), wherein in general formula (1), A represents at least one element selected from the group consisting of Si, Fe, Ni, Mo, and Zr, and x represents a value expressed by 0 ≤ x < 2.0.
