Abstract

The present invention provides a method for producing a decolorized internal olefin sulfonate composition having a low odor, and good storage stability. A method for producing a decolorized internal olefin sulfonate composition of the present invention includes a decolorizing process (A) of performing an adjusting step (a1) of adjusting a concentration of an alkali compound in a system in which an internal olefin sulfonate composition containing an internal olefin sulfonate is present and a mixing step (a2) of mixing a decolorizing agent and the internal olefin sulfonate composition present in the system. The adjusting step (a1) is a step of adjusting the concentration of the alkali compound in the decolorizing process (A) so that the concentration of the alkali compound after mixing the decolorizing agent and the internal olefin sulfonate composition present in the system is 0.004 mmol or more and 0.26 mmol or less with respect to 1 g of the internal olefin sulfonate.
