Abstract
An object of the present invention is to provide a novel method for producing a solubilized polymer obtained by decomposing a water-absorbent resin, which can shorten the decomposition time of the water-absorbent resin. A method for producing a solubilized polymer, including preparing a water-absorbent resin (A), which is a water-absorbent resin to be decomposed, and contacting the water-absorbent resin (A) with a decomposing agent, in which: (i) the contacting is performed in the presence of a water-absorbent resin (B), which is a water-absorbent resin having higher decomposability than the water-absorbent resin (A); or (ii) the contacting is performed in the presence of a decomposed product separately prepared by contacting a water-absorbent resin (B) with a decomposing agent, the water-absorbent resin (B) being a water-absorbent resin having higher decomposability than the water-absorbent resin (A).
