Abstract

The invention relates to a system for pyrolyzing pyrolyzable material (PM) to produce pyrolytic vapours (PV). The system comprises a pyrolysis reactor (100) for pyrolyzing pyrolyzable material (PM), a first particle separator (200) for separating the pyrolytic vapours (PV) and a first solid material fraction (SF1) from a pyrolysis product feed, and a particulate material heater (300) for heating the first solid material fraction. The particulate material heater (300) comprises second distributors (320) for feeding second fluidizing gas (Gas2) into the particulate material heater (300) to fluidize particulate material within the particulate material heater (300) and an electric heater (310) configured to electrically heat particulate material arranged in the particulate material heater (300). The invention relates also to a method for pyrolyzing pyrolyzable material (PM) to produce pyrolytic vapours (PV). The method comprises at a first period, heating the particulate material arranged in the particulate material heater (300) using an electrical heater (310), guiding heated particulate material from the particulate material heater (300) into the pyrolysis reactor (100).
