Abstract
High-strength carbon steel suitable as a material for a can for secondary batteries, a metal can manufactured by processing the same, and secondary batteries manufactured by accommodating an electrode assembly in the can are provided. A material for manufacturing the metal can is provided in the form of a meal plate. The metal can is manufactured by subjecting the meal plate to deep drawing. The metal can is manufactured from a carbon steel containing a precipitation strengthening element including Nb in a ratio of more than 0.05 wt% and 0.100 wt% or lower. The carbon steel contains C in a ratio of 0.01 wt% or higher and 0.100 wt% or lower. The carbon steel contains Mn in a ratio of 0.1 wt% or higher and 0.5 wt% or lower. The carbon steel contains Si in a ratio of more than 0.001 wt% and 0.5 wt% or lower.
