Abstract
An electrochemical reaction device 10 includes a first electrode 11, a second electrode 12, a first electrolysis section 21 including the first electrode 11, a reaction section 31, and a first connection path 41 that connects the first electrolysis section 21 and the reaction section 31. The first electrode 11 contains a first catalyst that catalyzes a reaction of reducing carbon dioxide to a first reductant, and the second electrode 12 oxidizes a reductant A of a redox substance to an oxidant B. The first connection path 41 allows the first reductant produced in the first electrolysis section 21 to be discharged to the reaction section 31. The reaction section 31 contains a second catalyst that allows an organic substance to be produced from the first reductant and the oxidant B.
