Abstract
Provided are a method, a system, and a mobile robot for generating an environment map, each configured to generate a wide and highly accurate environment map at low cost and in a short time. A method according to an aspect of the present invention is a method of generating an environment map by controlling a first mobile robot that is movable and provided with a first detection unit for detecting an environment and generating first environment information and a second mobile robot that is movable and provided with a second detection unit for detecting the environment and generating second environment information. The method includes: causing the first mobile robot to move; generating first environment information by causing the first detection unit of the first mobile robot to detect an environment while the first mobile robot is moving; causing the second mobile robot to move so as to follow the first mobile robot; generating the second environment information by causing the second detection unit of the second mobile robot to detect an environment while the second mobile robot is moving; and generating an environment map based on the first environment information and the second environment information.
