Abstract

The present disclosure relates to an intraoral scanning system that is configured to generate a three-dimensional (3D) model with dynamic texture that changes according to a viewing direction of a virtual camera. The system comprises an intraoral scanner, which acquires geometric image data and a plurality of texture image data of a dental object at a plurality of viewing directions. The system further comprises one or more processing units configured to generate a 3D mesh model of the dental object based on the geometric image data, and to assign two or more texture values to a mesh vertex, corresponding to its projections in the texture image data of several viewing directions. The 3D mesh model is rendered with a virtual camera and textured according to texture values corresponding to the viewing direction of the virtual camera.
