Abstract
A direct air capture (DAC) of CO<2> system includes a reaction reactor having a solid, amine-functionalized sorbent configured to sequester CO<2> from air; an in-situ dual-function device configured as a CO<2> conversion reactor and an exchange fluid regeneration device; and the exchange fluid, recirculating between the reaction reactor and the dual-function device, configured to capture the sequestered CO<2> from the solid sorbent in the reaction reactor and release the captured CO<2> in the conversion reactor, the exchange fluid including one or more amino acids.
