Abstract

The present invention relates to a glass or a glass-ceramic for preparing a lithium alumosilicate glass-ceramic comprising a keatite solid solution crystal phase, wherein the glass or the glass-ceramic comprises 60 to 78 wt.% of SiO₂, 8.5 to 24 wt.% of Li₂O, 2.0 to 15 wt.% of Al₂O₃, and a nucleating agent. The present invention further relates to a lithium alumosilicate glass-ceramic for a dental body, wherein the lithium alumosilicate glass-ceramic comprises 60 to 78 wt.% of SiO₂, 8.5 to 24 wt.% of Li₂O, 2.0 to 15 wt.% of Al₂O₃, and a nucleating agent, and wherein the lithium alumosilicate glass-ceramic comprises a keatite solid solution crystal phase.
