Abstract

A sealing assembly (1) for sealing a rotor shaft (2) for a vertical axis pump / mixer (13) to prevent liquid flow between a housing (3) and the rotor shaft (2), the sealing assembly (1) comprises a stator bush (4) to be fasten to the housing (3), and an upper seal pair (6) and a lower seal pair (7), both comprising a pair of seal rings (8) forming a slide surface between the pair of seal rings (8) and the seal rings (8) are slidable against each other, in each of the pair of seal rings (8), a first seal ring (9) is stationary coupled to the stator bush (4) while a second seal ring (10) is rotatable and coupled to the rotor shaft (2), slide surfaces (60, 70) of both upper seal pair (6) and lower seal pair (7) are cooled / lubricated with sealing liquid (SL) when in use. The stator bush (4) comprises a sleeve (14) forming a weir (15) that configures an annular volume (12) for sealing liquid (SL), the stator bush (4) is provided with a fluid channel (11) that opens to the annular volume (12) for providing sealing liquid (SL) to the annular volume (12), the height of the weir (15) is greater than the level of the slide surface (60) of the upper seal pair (6) in axial direction so that a sealing liquid (SL) level is above the slide surface (60) of the upper seal pair (6)..
