Abstract

The invention relates to a method for monitoring the state-of-condition of pipes in a district heating distribution network (1), the heating distribution network comprising a plurality of consumer sites (3), with the following steps: a) determining a flow rate (q) and an inlet fluid temperature (T<1>) at a consumer site (3), b) detecting an event of fluid consumption, c) determining a change of the inlet fluid temperature (T<1>) in the time period of the event, d) calculating a characteristic value based on the determined change of the fluid inlet temperature (T<1>) and the flow rate, e) repeating the steps b) to d)for a period of time, and f) monitoring the characteristic values (k) or derived values based on the characteristic values as an indicator for the state-of-condition of a pipe connected to the consumer site (3).
