Abstract
An offset compensation and linearization circuit is provided for accelerometer sensors including first and second sensing capacitors charged to first and second charge values and exhibiting a capacitance unbalance in response to acceleration applied to the sensor. A first differential stage coupled to the first and second sensing capacitors provides a differential signal indicative of the difference between the second charge and the first charge, the difference being indicative of acceleration applied to the sensor. A second differential stage is coupled to the first and second sensing capacitors at first and second sensing nodes and provides a common mode signal based on the difference between a reference voltage and a voltage indicative of a mean value of the input voltages at the first and second sensing nodes. An analog-to-digital converter converts the ratio of the differential signal from the first differential stage to the common mode signal from the second differential stage. This latter stage comprises capacitive feedback paths from the output of the second differential stage having a first capacitance value and a second capacitance value wherein the first capacitance value is different from the second capacitance value.
