Abstract

A method (400) for monitoring the health of an electric power train (12) is disclosed herein. The method of monitoring the health of the electric power train (12) includes, detecting partial discharge (404) within the electric power train (12) with a partial discharge sensor (102), imaging (406) the electric power train (12) with a camera (100) to generate an image, comparing (408) the detected partial discharge with a partial discharge threshold, comparing (410) the image of the electric power train (12) to a threshold representation, and determining (412) the health of the electric power train (12) based upon the detection of partial discharge and the image of the electric power train (12).
