Abstract
The present invention enables continuous detection of accurate train speed even in a trackless section without a track surface. For the detection, a speed detection device of the present invention includes: a millimeter wave speed sensor having a transmission function of emitting an irradiation wave of the electromagnetic wave and a reception function of receiving a reflected wave of the irradiation wave; a distance calculator that calculates a distance from the millimeter wave speed sensor to a reflective object based on a delay time of the reflected wave from the irradiation wave; and a speed calculator that calculates speed based on a difference between a beat frequency calculated from a difference between the irradiation wave and the reflected wave, and a beat frequency calculated before the calculated beat frequency, in which the speed calculator determines a sampling condition based on the distance from the millimeter wave speed sensor to the reflective object calculated by the distance calculator, and calculates speed by using only a component of the reflected wave satisfying the sampling condition.
