Abstract

A method of operating a foldable touchscreen device (100) includes detecting self-capacitances (124) sensed in a folding area (108) of a touchscreen (102) using a self-sensing scan by a touchscreen controller (110), determining a reference strength sensed by the touchscreen (102) in the folding area (108) based on the self-capacitances (124) in the folding area (108) when the device (100) is in a partially folded position, determining temperature information of the touchscreen (102) in the partially folded position, in response to determining that the temperature information of the touchscreen (102) is outside a predetermined temperature window, determining a corrected reference strength from the reference strength based on the temperature information, determining an angle strength for the partially folded position based on the corrected reference strength, and determining whether the device (100) is open or closed based on the angle strength.
