Abstract

The invention refers to an intelligent transport system (10) and a method for improving road safety. Further, the invention pertains to a method and an electronic device (24) for a road user (20). Furthermore, the invention pertains to computer programs. It is provided that a detected event (18) by a first road user (16) and/or a road infrastructure (14) is broadcasted locally to the environment via direct communication signals and received by surrounding other road users (20). Road users (20) which are connected to or connectable with a backend server (12), upload the received information about the detected event (18) to the backend server (12). Then, other road users (22) not being in range of the broadcasted direct communication signal but connected to the backend server (12) can also be informed and/or warned of the detected event (18).
