Abstract
The present disclosure relates to a secondary battery that can be charged and discharged and a method for manufacturing such a secondary battery. A secondary battery according to the present disclosure may include an electrode assembly; a pouch-type exterior material having an internal space that accommodates the electrode assembly and an exterior material opening that allows the internal space to communicate with the outside; and a cover member inserted into the exterior material opening, wherein the exterior material may include a plurality of wing portions folded to meet an outer surface facing the outside among surfaces of the cover member, and the plurality of wing portions may be coupled to the outer surface of the cover member to seal the internal space. A method for manufacturing a secondary battery according to the present disclosure may include a preparation step of preparing an electrode assembly and an exterior material sheet where a plurality of wing portions are formed; a packaging step of wrapping the electrode assembly with the exterior material sheet so that an internal space accommodating the electrode assembly and an exterior material opening allowing the internal space to communicate with the outside are formed; a cover member insertion step of inserting a cover member into the exterior material opening; a folding step of folding the plurality of wing portions so that the plurality of wing portions meet an outer surface facing the outside among surfaces of the cover member; and a sealing step of sealing the internal space by coupling the plurality of wing portions and the outer surface of the cover member.
