Abstract

A battery module includes a plurality of battery cells, each of which includes a vent and which are arranged in a first direction, spacers respectively positioned between the plurality of battery cells, a top plate spaced apart from the plurality of battery cells and covering a top of the plurality of battery cells, and side plates covering opposite side surfaces of the plurality of battery cells, in which each of the spacers includes an extension portion extending upwardly above the height of the battery cell, and the extension portion guides a venting gas discharge path of at least any one of the plurality of battery cells.
