Abstract
The present disclosure refers to a battery system (100) and an electric vehicle including the battery system (100).The battery system (100) includes a plurality of battery cells (10) stacked along a stacking direction (S) and a fire extinguishing agent (16) configured to generate fire extinguishing gases (22) through an exothermic reaction above a predetermined temperature. Each of the plurality of battery cells (10) includes a venting valve (12) disposed on a terminal side (14) arranged orthogonally to the stacking direction (S). The fire extinguishing agent (16) is arranged to continuously extend above the terminal sides (14) of the plurality of battery cells (10) along the stacking direction (S). Furthermore, the fire extinguishing agent (16) is configured to generate an amount of fire extinguishing gases (22) which extinguishes at least one or more but less than the number of the plurality of battery cells (10) above which the fire extinguishing agent (16) continuously extends.
