Abstract
A system and computer-implemented method for detecting atrial fibrillation drivers in signals that exhibit automatic auto-accelerated activity. The system (1) comprises a detection unit (2) configured to obtain sets (16) of bipolar EGMs corresponding to a multielectrode catheter acquisition; calculate cycle lengths (105) and detect activity intervals (107) in each bipolar EGM (20); classify the activity intervals (107) into discrete intervals (109) when their duration is lower than an activity threshold, or otherwise into highfrequency complex activity, HFCA, intervals (111); calculate an entanglement index (113) for each HFCA interval (111) that depends on the detection, within an entanglement time window (31) that at least partially includes the HFCA interval (111), of one or more discrete intervals (109) in other bipolar EGMs (20) of the set (16) of bipolar EGMs (20) with a reduction in the cycle length (105) during the HFCA interval (111); and detect atrial fibrillation drivers (7) in each acquisition based on the entanglement indexes (113). The invention improves the precision of AF driver identification.
