Abstract

An apparatus (100, 200) for heating a gas is proposed, the apparatus (100, 200) comprising a heating chamber (10) and heating tubes (11, 12, 13), wherein each of the heating tubes (11, 12, 13) comprises an inlet section (11a, 12a, 13a), an outlet section (11c, 12c, 13c) and an intermediate section (11b, 12b, 13b), wherein the intermediate sections (11b, 12b, 13b) of the heating tubes (11, 12, 13) are arranged within the heating chamber (10), wherein the outlet sections (11c, 12c, 13c) of the heating tubes (11, 12, 13) are electrically interconnected by an electrically conducting interconnection (20) element, wherein the inlet sections (11a, 11b, 11c) of the heating tubes (11, 12, 13) are electrically connected to different phases (L1, L2, L3) of a multiphase electric current, and wherein the inlet sections (11a, 12a, 13a) of the heating tubes (11, 12, 13) are fluidly connected to, and electrically isolated from, upstream tube sections (11d, 12d, 13d) by electrically insulating fluid connectors (11e, 12e, 13e) providing a galvanic separation of the inlet sections (11a, 12a, 13a) of the heating tubes (11, 12, 13) and the upstream tube sections (11d, 12d, 13d). Corresponding methods are also proposed.
