Abstract

A welding-type system may include a welding-type power source, configured to provide power to one or more components of the welding-type system, and a welding-type wire feeder, configured to feed electrode wire during welding-type operations. A multi-conductor connector may be used in connecting the welding-type power source and the welding-type wire feeder. The multi-conductor connector includes a plurality of conductors. The welding-type power source may provide, via the plurality of conductors in the multi-conductor connector, power to the welding-type wire feeder, for powering and/or driving the welding-type wire feeder. The welding-type power source and the welding-type wire feeder may perform data communication via the plurality of conductors. The data communication may be performed during the providing of power. The data communication may be performed using at least one conductor that is also used in the providing of power from the welding-type power source to the welding-type wire feeder.
