Abstract

A blade set (26, 226, 326) for a hair cutting appliance (10) comprises a guard blade (46) comprising a top wall portion (56) and a bottom wall portion (58) at least partially offset from the top wall portion (56), thereby defining a guide slot (60), and a cutter blade (66) slidingly accommodated in the guide slot (60) to be reciprocally moved relative to the guard blade (46). The guard blade (46) and the cutter blade (66) together form at least one outer cutting zone (74) and at least one inner cutting zone (76) that is inwardly offset from the outer cutting zone (74). The guard blade (46) comprises, in the outer cutting zone (74), a series of outer cutting slots (48) alternating with corresponding comb-like teeth (112), and, in the inner cutting zone (76), a series of elongated inner cutting slots (50) inwardly offset from the outer cutting slots (48). The cutter blade (66) comprises, in the outer cutting zone (74), a series of outer cutting slots (68) alternating with corresponding comb-like teeth (122), and, in the inner cutting zone (76), a series of elongated inner cutting slots (70) inwardly offset from the outer cutting slots (68). At the bottom wall portion (58) of the guard blade (46), an outer protruding contact portion (88) and an inner protruding contact portion (90) are formed. The outer protruding contact portion (88) extends towards the cutter blade (66) and is arranged between the outer cutting zone (74) and the inner cutting zone (76). The inner protruding contact portion (90) extends towards the cutter blade (66) and is inwardly offset from the outer protruding contact portion (88) such that the inner cutting zone (76) is arranged therebetween.
