Abstract

Herein is disclosed a method of manufacturing a profile (4), in particular a reinforced window profile (4), such as for a roof window (42), the method comprising the steps of feeding a continuous flow of a melted thermoplastic material to an extrusion die (2), feeding elongated reinforcement inserts (3) into a plurality of insertion positions of the extrusion die (2), so that a reinforced profile (4) is manufactured with the reinforcement inserts (3) extending in a longitudinal direction of the manufactured profile (4) and the reinforcement inserts (3) being partly or entirely embedded in the thermoplastic material of the manufactured profile (4), wherein the feeding of the reinforcement inserts (3) is conducted intermittently at a plurality of insertion positions of the extrusion die (2), so that consecutive reinforcement inserts (3) at a given insertion position of the extrusion die (2) are fed to the extrusion die (2) with a mutual longitudinal distance (6), wherein the mutual longitudinal distances (6) between consecutive reinforcement inserts (3) corresponding to each of said plurality of insert positions are arranged to form cutting zones (13) in the manufactured profile (4), wherein at least some of the insert positions are mutually displaced in a transversal direction (15) of the manufactured profile (4), and wherein end surfaces (16) of neighbouring reinforcement inserts (3) in said transversal direction (15) of the manufactured profile (4) are staggered in the longitudinal direction of the manufactured profile (4) so that the cutting zones (13) allow straight separating cuts (14) to be made across the manufactured profile (4) passing through the mutual longitudinal distances (6) between consecutive reinforcement inserts (3) of the manufactured profile (4) corresponding to each of said plurality of insert positions.
