Abstract
The present invention relates to methods for obtaining an expanded population of skeletal muscle derived cells (SMDC). The present invention also refers to an expanded population of SMDCs obtained by the method according to the present invention and to an expanded population of SMDCs. Further, the present invention refers to an expanded population of SMDCs for use in a method for treatment of the human or animal body by surgery or therapy or for use as a pharmaceutical composition. In addition, the present invention refers to an expanded population of SMDCs for use in a method of preventing and/or treating neuromyopathies, myopathies and/or muscle dysfunctions such as a urinary and/or an anal incontinence.
