Abstract

The present invention relates to a tuyere stock comprising a valve adapted to control the flow of a gas having a temperature of at least 800 °C into a furnace, the valve comprising(a) a valve body having a longitudinal axis and an inner wall defining a flow path for the gas along the axis, the flow path having a cross-sectional area perpendicular to the axis;(b) a trim assembly comprising multiple shutter elements and a drive assembly adapted to reversibly displace the multiple shutter elements through the inner wall of the valve body into the flow path in the plane of the cross-sectional area, the cross-sectional area of the flow path being concentrically reduced when the multiple shutter elements are displaced into the flow path.
