Abstract

The invention relates to a coated cutting tool comprising a substrate body and a coating, the coating comprises a sequence of layers, in the order from the substrate body surface, being one or more metal nitride layer(s) (M), the total thickness of the one or more metal nitride layer(s) (M) is from 0.5 to 8 µm, followed by a layer of Cr<1-x>Al<x>N, 0.75≤x≤0.85, as an uppermost layer having a thickness of from 0.1 to 2 µm, the layer of Cr<1-x>Al<x>N is of a single phase B1 cubic structure. The invention also relates to a method of producing the coated cutting tool.
