Abstract

A connector comprising: a connector body surrounding an internal passage (16) arranged to receive a pipe (7) therein; a radio-frequency identification RFID module (100) installed on the connector body; a latch mechanism (30) positioned in an insertion position and movable into a latched position; and a cover (50) attached to the latch mechanism (30) that extends over the RFID module (100) and prevents reading of the RFID module (100), wherein responsive to the latch mechanism (30) being moved to the latched position the latch retains the pipe (7) to the connector body and moves the cover (50) to allow reading of the RFID module (100).
