Abstract

An axial flux electrical machine (10) comprising: a housing (12) defining an interior (14), a first stator (16a) comprising a first stator core (18a) and first stator elements (20a) like windings, a rotor (22) connected to a shaft (24) and a cooling system with a injector (26) injecting a cooling liquid to the rotor (22). The rotor (22) comprises: a carrier structure (28) connected to the shaft (24), a receiving area (30) as manifold for the cooling liquid and a plurality of coil assemblies (32) arranged radially outwards from the receiving area (30). Each coil assembly (32) comprises two electromagnetic coils (34a, 34b) being spaced apart in axial direction and forming a cooling path (36) therebetween in radial direction. The rotation of the rotor (22) distributes the cooling liquid from the receiving area (30) through the cooling path (36) between coil assemblies (32) to the outer circumference of the rotor.
