Abstract

A system (304) and method of generating a communication description file for configuring devices in an automation system is disclosed. The method comprises receiving (101) an input comprising a list of signals for communication between a plurality of devices of the automation system. The method comprises determining (302) a first protocol associated with the list of signals, wherein the list of signals is to be converted to a second protocol. Further, the method comprises determining (103) a first model (514) for application of at least one conversion factor associated with the second protocol, using a second model. Furthermore, the method comprises determining (104) a mapping of the list of signals to the second protocol based on an application of at least one conversion factor. Moreover, the method comprises generating (105) the communication description file based on the mapping.
