Abstract

An imaging apparatus includes an image pickup element including a light receiving unit configured to output a pulse signal in response to incidence of a photon, and a counting unit configured to count the pulse signal, an acquisition unit configured to acquire a blinking frequency of a light source and a light emission time period of the light source, and a control unit configured to control an exposure time period for an image in the image pickup element and a counting frequency at which the counting unit performs counting based on the acquired blinking frequency of the light source and the acquired light emission time period of the light source.
