Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a device for collecting gastrointestinal fluids/particles or samples. The present disclosure also relates to a process of collecting gastrointestinal fluids/particles or samples by the ingestible device. The ingestible device of the present disclosure is designed to non-invasively collect gastrointestinal particles, including biomolecules and components of the residing gut microbiome, with precise spatial resolution along the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Upon deployment, the device's design and/or actuation mechanism facilitates the capture of gastrointestinal fluids and associated particles within those fluids. These samples are securely stored within the device until its natural egestion, after which the collected material can be subjected to further bio/chemical analyses.
