Abstract
A friction stir spot welding device (M) performs friction stir welding of an upper plate (31) and a lower plate (32). In a state where the pin (11) is retracted with respect to the upper plate front surface (31A), the controller (C) press-fits the shoulder (12) from the upper plate front surface (31A) to a predetermined reference position set with reference to the lower plate front surface (32A) at a first pressure, and then press-fits the shoulder (12) from the reference position to a press-fitting position deeper than the lower plate front surface (32A) at a second pressure. In a case where the hardness of the upper plate (31) is lower than the hardness of the lower plate (32), the first pressure is set to be lower than the second pressure, and in a case where the hardness of the upper plate (31) is higher than the hardness of the lower plate (32), the first pressure is set to be higher than the second pressure.
