Abstract
An optical shuffle device (78) for mounting in an equipment rack (80) of a fiber optic network. The shuffle device (78) includes a shuffle housing (82) defining a mounting region (92) and a plurality of shuffle modules (84) arranged in the mounting region. Each of the shuffle modules (84) is separate from the other shuffle modules (84) and is movable between a first position and a second position. The shuffle device (78) may include locking mechanisms (100) to secure the shuffle modules (84) in the first position, and optionally in the second position. The modularity of the shuffle device (78) and the ability to move the shuffle modules (84) between these positions allows installers to isolate each of the shuffle modules (84) one at a time and more easily connect fiber optic connectors to connector ports of the shuffle device. A method of using the optical shuffle device (78) is also disclosed.
