Abstract

Embodiments of this application disclose an interface switching method and an electronic device. The method includes: The electronic device displays a first interface, where the first interface is an interface of a home screen application; displays a second interface of a first application in response to a first operation performed on an icon of the first application in the first interface, where after the second interface is displayed, a layer of the first interface is not destroyed; starts, in response to a second operation of returning to the first interface and before a notification of drawing completion is obtained, to display a first animation of returning to the first interface; displays the second interface of the first application in response to a third operation performed on the icon of the first application in the first interface, where the layer of the first interface is not destroyed, and a display configuration of the home screen application is changed after the second interface is displayed; and thereafter starts, in response to a fourth operation of returning to the first interface and after the notification of drawing completion is obtained, to display a second animation of returning to the first interface. In the embodiments of this application, a waiting time for drawing a home screen layer can be reduced, and responsiveness can be improved.
